How to Choose a Safer Chat Username and Display Name
A good chat username is easy to recognize without becoming a clue to your offline identity. The safest choice sounds human and memorable while leaving out details that another person could connect across websites.
Start with interests instead of identity
Combine a neutral interest, mood, color, object, or harmless adjective: QuietComet, PurpleReader, or WeekendCoder. An interest gives people a conversation opening, while a real surname, employer, school, neighborhood, or exact profession can make you easier to identify.
Avoid meaningful numbers
A birth year, graduation year, postal code, phone fragment, or house number may reveal more than expected. If a name needs numbers, choose random digits that have no relationship to your age, location, daily routine, or another account you use.
Do not reuse a public handle
