How to Use Online Chat on a Slow Mobile Connection
Text chat is lighter than voice or video, but an unstable connection can still interrupt presence and message delivery. A few simple habits reduce duplicate messages and unnecessary reloads.
Wait for reconnection before sending again
When a network changes, the realtime connection may need a moment to reauthenticate. Watch the connection indicator and keep the tab open. Repeatedly tapping Send or refreshing can create confusion about whether the original message reached the server.
Prefer one active tab
Several Funchat tabs create extra realtime connections and consume more memory on a low-end phone. Keep one active tab, close old private-chat copies, and use the in-app conversation list to move between General Chat and direct messages.
Expect presence to lag during handover
Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data changes the network path. Your own online state and the member list may take a short time to settle. This is normal; an online dot is a connection signal, not proof that the other person is actively reading.
Let the browser manage static assets
The Funchat progressive web app caches selected static interface assets after a successful visit. That can make later launches feel faster, but live rooms, authentication, presence, and messages still require an internet connection. Offline mode cannot send or receive chat.
Use concise messages while the signal is weak
Compose a complete thought, send it once, and wait for confirmation. If the app remains disconnected, save the text locally before closing the tab. Never assume an unsent emergency message will be delivered; use an appropriate reliable service for urgent communication.
